[ caelus is back in his typical clothing, carrying his baseball bat at his side. it no longer conveniently appears and reappears as needed, so now it's an actual object caelus has to tote everywhere. boooo.
he's in the church, seated at a pew, pulling off a remaining entourage of leeches from his time in the swamp. ]
Aventurine is checking out the new digs in the barn, a hand on his hip as he surveys this... situation. He can't say he's happy about it, but he keeps his smile on his face as he turns to Caelus. ]
Well, it's no suite, but it'll have to do.
[ HE HATES IT HERE. Also, the number 35 is floating around on his cheek. ]
give caelus but a moment to synthesize the new information as it's presented. aventurine and himself have both been chosen by the barn. others, too, thank the trailblaze, or it would start to feel almost manufactured that they'd end up in the same space time and again.
when he turns, aventurine will see receptacle in bold print on caelus' bare neck. we're all having a good time today. ]
[ immediately abandons my week 0 cutesy subject line syntax. i've aged,
anyway get summoned by the trailblaze to Ben, RPh, & Jerry's. caelus hasn't had icecream since penacony and that was zero-calorie dream-cream so. he's peering at the thirty-two options. he might simply make himself an abomination mixture of them all. ]
[ Aventurine has also aged, mostly spiritually, but it can be seen on his face when he walks into the combination pharmacy and ice cream store. He looks exhausted, mirth from that very first week gone as he comes to a stand beside Caelus.
Still, he makes an effort. ]
There's even more at the shopping center's food court.
[ sad men seem to be a hit around these parts, so maybe this is good for him. caelus wouldn't know anything about that as he can't remain somber for too long. the goofy always leaks out eventually.
he spares aventurine a glance. his 'I'll tell you in a few days' timer is counting down. tick-tock. ]
You don't have to push yourself if you don't want to talk to me.
[ no idea yet if aventurine's exhaustion is caelus-specific or just how he looks at people now. will need that explained. ]
If I didn't want to talk to you, I wouldn't be here.
[ He's teasing, though he will find the nearest surface to sit on while Caelus peruses the many flavors of ice cream. ]
Don't take my appearance personally. Everyone in this town either died or placed one foot in their grave on Thursday. Only Nehan and I were spared, so we've been kept busy tending to the wounded.
[ dark circles under the trailblazer's eyes and a manga propped open on his lap as he sits and waits in aventurine's hospital room.
the side-table has a covered tray from the food court and a stack of that same manga series (all with broken spines from rough reading).
he's wearing a plain black tshirt instead of the usual shruggy white. this might not be the first time aventurine woke up. it's okay if he missed it. ]
[ He's in and out of consciousness for the most part, only staying awake for small bursts of time where he's not entirely sure where he is. As disoriented as he is, he tries to focus, and when he sees Caelus seated in the room with him, Aventurine struggles not to fall back asleep. ]
Look who's here to see me...
[ He sounds hoarse and tired, and while the healing spring has done some work on him, he still looks and feels like he's gone through the wringer several times. ]
[ Once the initial shock had worn off about the first group's return, Aventurine hadn't been left with a lot of time to settle before news of the second group had reached him. He'd been spending most of his time with Izutsumi before dropping in to check on the others, and now he's got more people to check in on.
He raps his knuckles against the door to signal his arrival, peeking in with a frown as concern emotionshares off of him. ]
[ caelus has to be able to break-in tomorrow, but for today, he has a bandage over the top half of his face--black, stylish--and he grabbed a cane from the fancy shop to use like dear ol' mr. yang.
he sits on the spinny desk chair in his apartment space. the door is open because it's easier than getting up for each visitor.
also, unimportant, but the trailblazer's hair is now waist-length and somehow better maintained than normal. luscious, even. ]
[ An interesting room, for sure... Aventurine studies it as he makes his way inside, gaze steadily moving around before settling on Caelus. Hm, the bandage covering half of his face is deeply unsettling, but Aventurine keeps his tone steady. ]
That strange humor of yours is still intact, I see.
[ And then he'll raise an eyebrow when he notices the other, very stark difference in appearance. ]
[ after greeting essek, it's time to find a place of healing. in this case, heaven's night, where nobody has standards about who can drink. he's not there for the alcohol, though. more of a social drinker, when he's on his own, caelus sits on the edge of the simple stage and gazes dully at his cheap radio shack phone. his inbox has not changed since he last checking five minutes ago, but you never know.
realizing caelus has no phone icon so just uses the expression of someone who is staring at their phone. ]
[ Aventurine is still... upset? Is upset the right word? About Essek, but he's trying to keep his composure as he walks into the crappy bar.
He doesn't expect to see Caelus sitting on the stage, and he pauses for a moment, wondering if he's intruding on something, but no one else is here so he makes his way over. ]

He'll help pull off a leech from a sleeve. ]
Did you take a swim, friend? This is more than what I've seen on average.

caelus scooches a pointed couple inches away on the pew. aventurine's trust ranking has not risen since yesterday. ]
I thought I saw something deeper in, but that something turned out to be a lot more leeches. You look...
[ significant pause ]
More yourself.

[ Doesn't seem to mind that Caelus is scooting away. In fact, he scoots closer, like this is some kind of game they're playing. ]
You've still got leeches on you.

Are you going to be okay rooming with Boothill?

[ Story of his whole life. Aventurine does look rather put upon though, some visible concern behind his ringed eyes as he thinks about it. ]
... No matter. I'm sure that Ranger and I will know to steer clear of each other as well as we can.

I'm not going to stop you two from arguing, but I'll break up a real fight.
[ eying the 35 ]
More than that, I want to start the gamble this time.

Water's fine.
[ Now that he's got some more clarity in his head, it feels a bit awkward being seen in such a vulnerable state. ]
