[ caelus has to be able to break-in tomorrow, but for today, he has a bandage over the top half of his face--black, stylish--and he grabbed a cane from the fancy shop to use like dear ol' mr. yang.
he sits on the spinny desk chair in his apartment space. the door is open because it's easier than getting up for each visitor.
also, unimportant, but the trailblazer's hair is now waist-length and somehow better maintained than normal. luscious, even. ]
[ An interesting room, for sure... Aventurine studies it as he makes his way inside, gaze steadily moving around before settling on Caelus. Hm, the bandage covering half of his face is deeply unsettling, but Aventurine keeps his tone steady. ]
That strange humor of yours is still intact, I see.
[ And then he'll raise an eyebrow when he notices the other, very stark difference in appearance. ]
[ He wanders further in, regarding the walls and their decorations. ]
If it's from the spring, it's temporary.
[ As are most side effects from this place. A small note of surprise crosses their emotionshare at the question, and Aventurine pauses for a moment before he drifts closer to Caelus to get a better look at his face. ]
No. I don't need the excruciating details for the notebook. That's not what it's for. Though I assume you and the others also saw items that you couldn't grab at the end of your journey?
I listened to the others. We went through a room full of scrolls and already burned candles. There was a jar with an eyeball in it. Then a box with these runes carved all over the outside and--...and inside a rock with...
[ YOU KNOW. this is starting to feel targeted. ]
............big googly eyes.
[ on closer inspection, there are slender incisions in caelus' skin, peeking out from the bottom edge of the bandage. his lips are chapped and he's paler than usual, but otherwise looking physically fine. ]
[ Rock with googly eyes... Okay. That's their problem now.
Aventurine peers at the incisions for a moment, a quiet hum under his breath as he leans in. He reaches out with a gloved hand to press the tips of his fingers just under the bandage. ]
[ a short thrum of amusement across the emotionshare line. ]
I thought we weren't worrying about each other. Just curious? Go ahead.
[ aventurine may lift the bandage.
it's not a pretty sight. that's the hair. the hair is pretty. but under the bandage are both of mr. stellaron's eyes, absolutely ruined.
it's hard to tell exactly what happened, but something must have stabbed into each eye multiple times, the blade apparently not going so far as to damage caelus' brain but certainly enough to blind him. to cause suffering. those smaller markings near his cheekbones should be from when the weapon was wrenched out before another plunge.
if he stares, aventurine can see the skin and eye goo is ever so slowly, ever so meticulously reknitting together. coming back. the spring's magic doing its work. caelus will see again sooner or later. ]
[ What peers (or doesn't peer) back at him is unsightly, but Aventurine doesn't recoil or flinch in horror. He's seen plenty of gore in his lifetime, and his emotionshare is a steady beat as he inspects the wounds, as well as the way they've slowly started to stitch themselves back together. ]
My, they really did a number on your eyes.
[ He fixes the bandage back into place with a small frown as he draws back. ]
You'll be staying indoors until you've healed?
[ THINKS ABOUT HOW THIS IS A NO AND CAELUS RUNS OFF TO A BREAK-IN ALMOST IMMEDIATELY AFTER ]
[ for the first time since aventurine entered the room, caelus' emotions dip. shame wells up, coupled with distress that he is actively tamping down, but woo. woo it's a strong 'un. ]
... Nobody did this to me.
[ clasping his hands together over his lap. in order to not lie, caelus will simply avoid answering aventurine's question. ]

[ yes, 'strange humor' is how we'll get through this trauma and still come out gleaming like a freshly scrubbed trashcan. ]
It's from the spring. It's a hassle to deal with--I don't know how Boothill does it.
[ kicking out legs and using just his heels to twist his seat back and forth a few inches in either direction ]
Are you here to ask me about what happened for your notebook?
