[ he's doing his best but those nat1's are killer. she releases a breath and scrubs her head. let's try this talking thing out. it's the least she can do before he (accidentally) fails another round of minesweeper ]
What happened that day... You never realize how much a person holds the family together until they're gone, really. Carver and I are too alike you see, put us in a room together and we'll be snipping at each other the whole time. She was always the one to keep the peace between us. After she passed, Carver never truly forgave me for it and our relationship never recovered. And after Mother passed...... [ well. you get the idea ]
I don't have any family I'm related to, but the Express crew were kind enough to pick me up and allow me to join. If I imagine losing March or Miss Himeko, the pain is unbearable.
[ any of them.
but if they lost either of those two in particular, it's hard to imagine the rest of them not falling apart. perhaps bethany was like that.
it might be a trip, following along as caelus races and climbs and leaps upon that ancient machine. time and again, he's about to lose his grip or fail to make a landing, but one of his companions always has his back. so, he can't fail them.
he doesn't know why he's able to follow his own will and not the voice of the stellaron inside him. it's not fair that cocolia couldn't ward off its false promises, that she now battles on behalf of the end of her world.
she kills him. tries to. awakens, instead, a sense of preservation. caelus' end has been foretold. this isn't it.
this concludes in a daughter losing her mother, a feeling caelus will never quite understand. it hurts, anyway. bronya doesn't deserve to suffer.
[ the memory hits like a... well. fright train. not that hawke quite knows what those are just yet but- the pain of losing your mother in devastating ways certainly echoes. how terrible that even in worlds so much more different than her own, things like this can still happen. ]
Most would say the memories are what keeps them alive but... There's nothing really that replaces their warmth.
[ though speaking of and hawke straight up unable to keep the intrusive thoughts on the inside ]
That said, how in the bloody hell were any of you warm?!
[ hawke, my love, you haven't seen his slutty, slutty past incarnation form. don't think he's any better than the rest of them. if anything, caelus wears clothes! lots of clothes! ]
That planet should get less icy over time with the Stellaron sealed. It might never go back to how it was before, but it gives the people there new hope.

Depending simply on the spirit of the trailblaze, hm? I'd rather hope it's working hard not to freeze everyone's bits off with all that skin showing.

It's good they have you around then.
