Thanks. For that and for wanting to know how I feel.

iwatooshi can feel him again. they were pausing on moving forward until that passed. but then comes the now traditional saturday death and the pain. then caelus' buried upset and placating forgiveness. none of it was wasted time, but it is a loss. they don't have many more hours until the end.

tomorrow is execution. it's going to be abysmal, as if what happened with war and ashlyn wasn't bad enough. ]

I'm going to hold you to that promise forever, you know. It could be another thousand years.

I just want you to know that you can be honest with me, and that I'll do the same for you.

[ it sounds so simple when he says it like that, but he's learned that life really isn't that simple. especially in a place like this, that steals what's most important to you when you aren't prepared for it.

there isn't much time left here in this village. once they're free to return home (if they'll manage that somehow; he still doesn't understand how to make that happen), iwatooshi wonders if he'll miss the freedom to spend his time doing what he likes with who he likes - learning about other worlds from friends he'd have never otherwise met, or riding the big wheel with caelus. freedom has never been on his mind before, dutiful weapon that he is, but a life without these people would be a life that's surprisingly lacking. maybe he did like having a taste of the freedom they all insisted he deserved a little more than he realized.

...whatever the case, caelus' words bring a smile to his face. it's like he told asa, days before, when he argued against sacrificing any memories at all - his memories are all he has. they are everything to him, and now caelus is a part of them. ]

Then I'll remember for another thousand years, and as long as it takes after that. Until the day I break for good.
