[ iwatooshi is still kind of drunk post-party but he's contentedly wandering back toward the apartments, taking it slow. it's nice and quiet out here, sometimes - peaceful even. but there is a spark of curiosity as he speaks up! ]

Caelus-dono, I have a question for you.

[ maybe several. he doesn't know. it all boils down to the same thing. ]

[ yeaaaah he could have seen this coming. caelus paid attention to how iwatooshi talked about the kiss before he found it necessary to pop in and go 'mind ur own beeswax' to a woman he's been trying to give space since he almost murdered her wizard bestie. but that's how it be sometimes. ]

[ he nods! this is more or less the reply he expected but it wouldn't be polite to just jump right in without saying something first. ]

When we went on the big wheel, you asked me if I've kissed my friends before. The way you asked made it sound like that's a normal thing to do, even if it's not something I'd personally done, but at the party, they told me something different. Cloud-dono said that it's something romantic. Karlach-dono said it's normal to kiss friends, unless you kiss on the lips. [ which, obviously, is the important thing here. ] And Aerith-dono said it's about sex, but that it depends on the friend, and that it's also different from being friends.

It's all very confusing. [ which is reflected in his emotions - still mostly pleasant and happy, but with an undercurrent of confusion and curiosity. ] But since you're the one who asked, I thought it would be best to get the answer from you.

[ glances down at caelus. ]

We are friends, aren't we? Or does a kiss make our relationship different?

[ nods along as iwatooshi speaks. that is a lot of information to have thrown at you all at once, especially when it's all within the bounds of a foreign topic. a potentially of-zero-interest topic. he would also have questions in iwatooshi's position. ]

I don't want to stop us from being friends. That never crossed my mind.

Maybe it was wrong of me to even ask to kiss. I thought we could just start with seeing if you even liked it. If things like that did anything for you.

[ stop being friends, that is. he's still not totally sure what caelus means by calling him pure, but he nods again. he's said before that he likes iwatooshi, so that isn't news.

but there's a little surge in the confusion when cae keeps talking. ]

[ granted, a big part of that is that it seemed to make caelus so happy - but even besides that, iwatooshi didn't mind it one bit. it reminded him a little of some of their songs, but in a good way. not one that he believes he'd regret someday. ]

[ caelus is always eavesdropping in public. so yeah, he heard a lot of what various beliefs around kissing were offered to iwatooshi. he didn't say anything and wasn't going to step in until there was outright asking after, well. himself.

iwa deserves a more complete education. at least, this is something caelus knows about, not from experience, but how do you live with march and not? ]

I know I'm not technically human, and it's maybe not true for all of them, but a lot of humans do have the urge to kiss. To touch someone they like differently than other people. Sex... can be a part of that. [ bitch he's a virgin too ]

They don't want to do that stuff with all their friends, but specific people that they're interested in being with more closely. I think that's the core of romance.

[ a heavy shrug. ]

When I see you, I think about kissing and whether or not you'd even want more. I don't want to change who you are, Iwatooshi. If that's someone who likes everything as it is now, I wouldn't want to mess with that. If you look at me and you don't think about those things, nothing has to be any different than it is.

Forgive me, Caelus-dono, but I wonder if that’s really a good way of judging things with me. In the past few years... [ a pause, then he laughs softly, amusement rippling out of him. ] Even in the past few weeks, I’ve learned that there’s a lot I don’t think about that humans or other mortals do, because of what I am.

[ a tool, not something that was ever meant to have emotions. a weapon only made to kill. ]

I never thought about dreams, until I experienced one for the first time. I didn’t think about how food tasted until I tasted it and started to learn about new flavors. If it weren’t for my current master’s tastes, I doubt I’d even think about singing.

[ and that is something he’s come to love very much since being summoned. it’d feel strange to lose that now that he has it, but before? why would it have ever occurred to him? ]

...I hadn’t thought about you touching my blade, either, until you did the other day. I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it since. Perhaps that’s made it more difficult to think about the kiss we shared, but when I think about it... It isn't that I don't like things as they are now, but I think that I also wouldn’t mind it if you were to touch me or kiss me again.

[ the blade...? caelus thinks back and yes, now will be the moment it actually hits him that he went and touched iwatooshi's weapon body without asking. the implications were all there, what with him offering to figure out the carriage logistics, but it's a bit intimate, isn't it? and caelus thought to ask about kissing but didn't think to preamble grabbing a guy by his other self.

maybe that alpha week gave him a serious, permanent complex. oh noooo. probably not but oh noooooo ]

Don't take this the wrong way, but I don't want you to 'not mind' it.

[ emotion share of... fondness, again. general adoration for someone who's always been so sincere with him. ]

I'd like you to take your time and think about it, what it is you'd like from me. What kind of things Iwatooshi wants to learn more about, not because other people are bugging you, but because it excites you. What gets your heart beating? There's no rush for me. I'd like to know you for a long time.

This is all new for you but it's new for me, too. That was also my first kiss. I always go after what I want, but... in this case, it has to be something you want, too. Not just 'don't mind.'
