Oh. [He does not know what a beauty pageant is but he can make some logical guesses.] ...Congratulations on winning, but I'm sorry for whatever you had to deal with while you were there. I assume it wasn't as straightforward as it sounds...
It felt normal at the time. I didn't remember myself or anyone. I had a whole other life as a pageant star. Winning was the only thing that mattered.
[ isn't that true of real life, too? caelus is currently at the top, clearly, despite the loss of his eyes and needing lucas to lead him back to his apartment. this is what winning fulltime feels like. ]
... There was a lot more death and violence than I think there was supposed to be.
I don't believe pageants should have any violence or death... [He doesn't know pageant culture.......] But that's what I've heard from many others who have returned from those ventures. That they feel in the moment as though they've lived in whatever place they've ended up all their lives.
[It's a nightmare out there! He's tired!! Once they reach the apartment, he'll stop long enough to open the front door so he can help Caelus through.]
Would you like to go to the bed? [First, and then:] But no, Nina's still very much alive. Dan Heng... I don't recognize the name, so I assume he was likely one of the fabricated parts of your venture.
[Imagine if they all got back home and found out that no, those bozos were truly kidnapped but just for a CYOA instead of a whole murdergame.]
[ at hearing nina's alive (for now) and dan heng hasn't appeared anywhere else, caelus sighs. pure relief. once his legs hit the side of his mattress he'll turn and take a seat. ]
Dan Heng is another crew member on the Astral Express. He's an important friend of mine.
[kyaa... He does dutifully lead Caelus over, though, and will continue to stand after he's seated because he's too polite and Catholic to presumptuously sit on someone else's bed.]
I see... Well. In the other fog ventures, people saw those from their homes, as well. It's all just designed to get under your skin in the worst of ways, ultimately...

Yeah. I'm guessing Nina didn't really die? And Dan Heng is still on the Express.
